Clearing the Bay

Clearing the Bay

Oil on canvas on wooden board 26.5cm x 55cm

It's dawn, still and the only sign of life are a few gulls and the the "pom pom pom" of a fishing trawler that has sheltered in the bay overnight, heading out to sea.

The mauve night mist is quickly disappearing before the morning sun, casting shades of blue over the bush. There was an eerie etherial quality about the whole scene as the little boat appeared to sail into the light.

The solitude, serenity and subtle colours were just begging to be painted!

This painting photographs darker than it really is - appearing more grey.
